Deepak Raj is the Founder and Managing Director of Raj Associates, a New Jersey–based private investment firm with investments spanning real estate as well as public and private securities. A seasoned finance professional, he brings decades of experience across equity research, investment banking, and global capital markets.
Prior to founding Raj Associates, Deepak spent 24 years at Merrill Lynch, where he held several senior leadership roles. His positions included senior analyst in research and member of the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team, Head of the Global Consumer Products Investment Banking practice, Senior Vice President, and member of the firm’s Executive Management Committee. As Director of Global Equity Research, he led a worldwide team of approximately 700 investment professionals.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Deepak holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from Northeastern University. He is also actively engaged in philanthropy and education, serving as Executive Chairman of Pratham USA and co-founding the Raj Center on Indian Economic Policies at Columbia University with his wife, Neera.
