Rangarajan Raghuram is the Chief Executive Officer of VMware Inc., a global leader in cloud infrastructure and digital innovation. He holds an M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Since joining VMware in 2003, Raghu has played a central role in shaping the company’s technological vision and growth trajectory.
He began by leading product management for VMware’s flagship ESX and vSphere platforms and went on to hold several senior leadership roles, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Software-Defined Data Center division, as well as Chief Operating Officer for Products and Cloud Services. In these positions, he oversaw VMware’s global product portfolio, cloud services, and core operational functions.
Prior to VMware, Raghu held leadership roles at Netscape, Bang Networks, and AOL. Widely recognized as an industry thought leader, he has helped scale VMware from a startup into a Fortune 200 enterprise, driving innovation, global expansion, and customer impact across more than 100 countries.
